Nova Datacom took another bold step in strengthening capabilities by successfully passing our ISO 9001:2008 audit on July 15, 2011. This certification audit took place from July 13th through July 15th, and involved intensive review of our procedural documentation as well as many interviews with Nova Datacom staff.
The preparation for the certification audit involved many months of writing, meetings, and reviews of our corporate policies and business procedures. A core team of individuals at headquarters, led by Mike Nelson, gathered requirements. developed procedure documentation, and published the documentation to our Quality Management System (QMS). Thank you to all who participated in this project.
The ISO 9001:2008 certification defines requirements for a quality management system. ISO 9001 outlines an approach for documenting business processes in the organization and the management of records created through the execution of the established business processes. ISO is the acronym for the International Organization for Standardization which developed and maintains this quality framework. http://www.iso.org/iso/about.htm
There are multiple value propositions for Nova Datacom’s ISO 9001 certification. First, we have set the stage for ongoing, continuous improvement of NDC business procedures. Our ISO 9001 certification provides the context to evaluate efficiency and improvements regarding how we address business requirements, resource those requirements, and measure our effectiveness. Second, we have strengthened our corporate resume with this certification and going forward will include the fact of our ISO 9001 certification in our business proposals. This will provide competitive advantage for Nova Datacom as we continue to compete for business and grow our company. Third, our ISO 9001 certification efforts have addressed some of the issues identified through employee satisfaction surveys and other corporate outreach to employees. We continually strive to improve communication, employee and customer satisfaction.
